I love Maggi!

GANAPATHY ?
I can faintly see an address below. is that an Indian food store?
I love Maggi! by xwelhamite.
I found Maggi Masala Noodles after 4.5 years of active hunting in the Indian (and other "ethnic") food stores. Maggi of Malaysian and Sri Lankan origin is quite common in the corner stores but the Indian import had been elusive till yesterday. K and I wandered down to Ganapathy Cash and Carry on Ealing road after grabbing a quick dinner at Chennai Dosa. The visit to Ganapathy is mostly a pretext for me to get my "Indian fix", smell the gajras made of belas (tidyly wrapped in fresh banana leaves) and check out the pickle shelf to see if they have brought over some of my favourite Mothers Recipe pickles..Imagine my surprise when I stumbled across Maggi Masala. I danced a jig in the aisle which prompted the store manager to cast a worried eye over me. We were trailed throughout the shop after that!
PS: I suspect I love Maggi noodles so much because I was deprived of any kind of fast food as a child!

Yes Lecercle...I suspect you are right about that.

Parag: Ganapathy is a "cash and carry" store on Ealing Road here in London. Ealing Road is a mini Gujarat and is a road lined with Indian stores- saris, other traditional clothes (there was even a Raymonds retail showroom on the road a few years ago), jewellers, sweet shops, restaraunts and stores that stck everything from jhadus to pickles to karelas/tinda and the like. Southall is a mini-julundhur and much more lively-I love the fresh jalebi stand on the pavement which reminds me of India. I go to Ealing road every few months when I am particularly homesick (although the India that I come from is nothing like Ealing Road!!).

BTW- 6 packets of Maggi for £2...what a rip off! I am not complaining though....I am glad to have found a store that stocks it!

Ooh! I havent been to Gaumukh for over 10 years...Do you have more recent pictures? There is nothing like Maggi cooked over a coal fire in a tiny shack in the hills with a cup of hot, sweet tea!
