Karl Plagge - an unsung hero

A metal plaque in the Alter Friedhof dedicated to the memory of Karl Plagge. He was Darmstadt's Oskar Schindler. The inscription on the plaque reads

Dedicated to Karl Plagge (1897 - 1957)

In gratitude for his humane behaviour during an inhumane time, and in the hope that his example will be a guide for future generations.

From the Jews that survived the HKP camp in Vilnius 1941-1944.
