Historic Building, Prague, Czech Republic

Located in an old street next to the castle of Prague, I went with this composition to show the old wall of the house, with two different paints, together with this nice window as well as a part of the door.

Lens of choice was my Nikkor 50mm/1.4, with an aperture of 1.4, due to the low light - I was shooting at 1/10s.

Historical Street in Prague, Czech Republic

Early September, I was in Prague for a weekend with good friends. The picture you see here was on the castle hill, taken in the blue hour after sunset. The street is right behind the castle. It being very narrow, I used my Tokina 11-16mm lens to get the right height (and cropping left and right for the square format). Handholding my camera, I did several shot to get a sharp one, exposure time being 1/5th of a second.

Sunset at the Müritz, Germany

Slightly before, and a slightly different composition, compared to my other picture. In this way, with less focal length (still a telephoto length, 85 mm), I took more of the scenery including foreground silhouettes, yet leaving the sun as a circle. The focus is more on the scenery rather than the sun and the clouds.

Morning Light, Mühlensee, Nationalpark Müritz, Germany

Almost exactly an hour after sunrise, light had changed dramatically. Still wonderful, but an entirely different light mood.

This picture was taken with my Nikkor 16-85 at 85mm and f8, resulting in 1/100s at ISO 200.

Cranes in the Morning, Rederangsee, Nationalpark Müritz, Germany

During my August stay at the Nationalpark Müritz, I used the mornings both for the light as well as the animal life. Driving with the bicycle through the national park actually made you see lots of animals, including deer, right on the way.

My main goal, however, was 20 km away. The Rederangsee is a place where cranes stop by in autumn before the move on to warmer places in Spain and Africa. Not as many as elsewhere, but concentrated, and very impressive. You are alone during that time, and even without taking pictures, it was majestic. I have posted a panning shot before, this one is different, but uses depth of field to isaloate a small group of cranes, while still showing some context. I recommend to use large black magic on this picture.
