With the filmmakers behind "Casting Pearls" at OUTFEST
With Calpernia Addams (L) and Andrea James (R), the star and director, respectively, of the fantastic short film "Casting Pearls." Snapshot from after a screening held during Outfest film festival in Los Angeles.
Watch the trailer: Link. The short was terrific, and I hope they reach a wide audience beyond the GLBT community with this. As an aside, the abbreviation "GLBT" always sounds like a sandwich to me. Maybe a BLT with gouda. But I digress. There were other very strong shorts in this "all-girls" screening, films that also struck me as having appeal to wider audiences -- if they could only get the distro. My other favorites in the bunch were "Make a Wish" (Director: Cherien Dabis, shot on location in the West Bank) and "Pariah" (Director: Dee Rees, a wonderful tale of teen identity in NYC). Totally great stuff, well worth waking up for at the crack of noon on a hot July Sunday. Photo: Adam Thompson. CommentsRussell Turley says:Wearing the latest in iPhone fashion on your
