Wow - wonderful portrait!! What did you do? Are some of the spots converted to B/W and not others? I've never seen a dog with both colors at once... this is beautiful. And those eyes!

Bublynski - I actually didn't do a strict selective color on this and ended up doing it in 2 duplicate layers instead. I cut out what I wanted colored on the one layer, converted it to B&W and then turned on the color layer underneath. But this dog did have spots of both colors which is what compelled the treatment to begin with. Here is the original I worked from:

Thanks Odie. I like the original too. I used my final days as a student to take advantage of Adobe's incredible student discount and splurged on Photoshop, and then was really itching to take 'er for a test drive so I decided on the coloring.

illona - shhhh, but i'm not ordinarily a fan either, except when i want to make some humorous point . . . like say, about a little blue-eyed border collie's crazy wild eyes. but after doing it a coupla of times on different images, I think the key is to do it when you non-color parts are otherwise pretty monotone like here. that way, the coloring doesn't jump off the page quite so much.
