The Trials and Tribulations of Bubbles

The Trials and Tribulations of Bubbles

Have you ever tried to capture champagne bubbles? Holy cow, they move fast. I started with better light on the left, and slowly increased shutter speeds, sacrificing light in order to freeze the bubbles, on the right.

Please use flickr's light box to see the image larger, the dark background and better size helps with the right-most image that is dark.

Here's Jason's writings to go with this image: the Champagne Cocktail. I was going to have him choose one image for the blog post. However, when he saw this set I was putting together for flickr, he decided to use it, as well.

January 2012, SNOW!

January 2012, SNOW!

The day after Wisconsin's intense temperature drop and the first snow of 2012. It was the first day of the new year I was able to get out with the camera.

P. made this a few years ago. Jason fastened it to the fence post over the summer.

While I'm wanting to continue learning to use RAW, I had switched the camera to JPG for Christmas snapshots. Then, of course, I forgot to switch it back.

A Bend in the Road

A Bend in the Road

A bend in the road is not the end of the road, unless you fail to make the turn. ~ Authur Unknown

Did you know Lightroom 4 is in Public Beta? The download is free, until it expires in March when the final product goes on sale. It's all I used here, though I did jump it into PSE for the watermark brush before creating a JPG. I don't know if I'll have enough time with Lightroom to get a feel if I want to make a purchase in the near future.

Nutcracker #2

Nutcracker #2

For a Christmas gift exchange, I bought a bottle of Macadamia Nut Liqueur. This was one of the recipes Jason developed to go with it. I printed a 4x6 photograph of the drink, and wrote the recipe on the back. See Jason's blog for the recipe.
