f1.0

f1.0 by wvs.
Saw this used Canon 50mm f1.0 lens in store ($4499.99) and I had to try it. Unfortunatly not a good test but shows crazy bokeh and weird blurs this lens produces.

so u mean to say that the blurs are inherent ?

theres not even a lil bit of panning involved here ?

That's the used price? Holy crap! Expensive toy! Looks like approximately 20% is in sharp focus and the rest is bokeh...interesting. Perfect test subject :)

I really had no idea a f1.0 could exist... I thought there was some technical limitation.

This is very cool.

I know it's just one shot but it really doesn't look worth $4.5k!

@anewname There are lenses that are 'less' than f/1. If I recall correctly Canon had a 50mm f/0.95 rangefinder lens. The limiting factor would be the size of the rear element/contact points. At some point it would be impossible to make the lens larger and fit on the mount.

There's a group on Flickr dedicated to such lenses: Superfast lenses, f/1.0 and below.

Still cheaper than Leica's f/0.95, though. lol There should be a law that requires all lenses above $2000 to have constant f/1.0.
