Yaow!!
At $4500 it better be darn good at F1.0, some of these lens can give you some aberrations wide open...

I think they make lenses like that as a tax on independently wealthy photo-hobbyists who have more dollars than sense.

Wow!! Why would anyone need a lens with a 1.0f? My 1.8 is most of the time way to shallow!! Crazy price

WOWSERS.... at a distance of 20 feet that thing would give you just under two feet of sharpness .

pair that with the low light performance of the 5D2 and you could pretty much shoot in pitch black :P

I've seen it on Ebay once for $3900 US. I don't think they have been made for a decade so the few you find will be old and rare. I've also seen shots taken with the antique Canon manual 55mm f/0.95 with the Canon 7 rangefinder. That is a fast lens.

That's the price for a used lens?!?! Then again, it is quite a wide aperture (largest I've seen on a digital) which would jack up the price quite a bit. The pics must have a lot of noise though at 1.0! I wouldn't use it even if it were in my price range.

I have it, I love it and it is not for sale. Photos with 1 candle in total darkness sell for $$. Night shots are exquisite. Use the depth of field and you can take photos you will not believe. Bokeh is the best I have ever seen. Possibilities are endless. Then set it to f/8 and you have the same sharpness as the Canon 200 mm f/1.2. No aberrations at all. I have it with a 5D MKII and it is about the best lens I have ever seen. So if you get a chance to buy one at any price, jump all over it. It is worth your left one!

Just a note to photo fan2009.

If you are going to plant a sales pitch under the guise of being flickr member, there are a few things you should try to remember.

1) Be a flickr member. Just signing up doesn't make you a member.
2) Be less obvious about your pitch. Your note could have been copy/paste from Canon POP.
and most important...
3) DON'T POST SALES PITCHES ON OTHER PEOPLES PICTURES

this is the new web 2.0 type of spamming. I've been getting this shit on blogs which is why i won't even post info about cameras/lenses/film, or even the names of locations I have shot. Its gotten out of hand.
