cover city hall

    Newer Older

this is the photo that was selected for the cover of spacing magazine's 7th issue. as I mentioned eariler, we rented 2 tilt-shift EF TS-E lenses (24mm and 90mm) to get the miniature effect for the city hall but unfortunately none of them were wide enough to give us the view we wanted (due to my camera's non full-frame sensor, I should have rented a Canon 5D or 1Ds too)
so I had to use my trustworthy EF-S 10-22 lens instead and then create the miniature/shallow depth-of-field in photoshop.

I still haven't seen the print myself, but will get it tonight at the launch party. if you can't make it tonight, you can also pick it up in local stores.

Funny.. I was thinking this morning about how one would recreate this effect in photoshop. I still haven't quite figured it out...

One more reason to get the 10-22!!! Wahoo, it's ordered and I am awaiting delivery. Now, where is this Sheraton Roof and do I need a big ladder?

      super

apart from the width problem with the non full frame sensor, did you find it eay or difficult to focus with the rebel xt?

i'm asking because I have decided to buy a tse lens but not fully decided which camera to stick on the back of it?

Very good view of City Hall. Any disclosure from where you took the picture? The (fake) TS is a very appropriate technique here, I guess I'll have to try it myself too :)
