In this project crews working for WSDOT and contractor Kiewit Pacific will improve safety and mobility by building an overpass, adding a ramp and widening an intersection in the SR 519 corridor. The corridor connects I-5 and I-90 to Seattle's sports stadiums, the Port of Seattle and the Seattle Ferry Terminal at Colman Dock.

More specifically, crews will connect a westbound off-ramp from I-90 and I-5 to the S. Atlantic Street overpass and build a vehicle and pedestrian bridge over the railroad tracks on S. Royal Brougham Way. We’re also improving the intersection of First Avenue S. and S. Atlantic Street by adding turn and through lanes and widening sidewalks.

The entire project is scheduled to be completed by June 2010, in time for the start of construction to replace the Alaskan Way Viaduct between S. Holgate and S. King streets.

Stay tuned to this collection for monthly sets of new photos chronicling this project from start to completion.
