The first time I tried to go up into the Cajón del Maipo I went on public transport, randomly going to the tiny village of San Gabriel. It was a fun trip but there are reasons why nobody goes to San Gabriel. My second trip was more organised, and involved driving up in a 4WD. We got to much more impressive scenery and hiked a decent hike into the hills. The weather always threatened but didn't break until we were safely back down in the car.

One evening, I was seized by a great urge to go travelling. By complete chance I found cheap flights to Toronto, and having never been there before, I bought a ticket for a flight leaving the next morning. Less than 24 hours after I'd bought the ticket I was up the CN tower, taking in the views of Toronto sprawling out along the shores of Lake Ontario.

Having seen a total solar eclipse in Side, I had some time to spare to wander back from Asia to Europe. Stopping off at Pamukkale was much more adventurous than I'd ever expected, when the night bus took us 200 miles past our destination. No-one told us we were in Aydin instead of Denizli as planned, and it took us a while to work it out.

We did, eventually, and got a bus back to Denizli, and another to Pamukkale. By the time we got there it was almost too late to actually go, but we just made it.

In March it was not too touristy. It was a fantastic spring day, and the white terraces shone in the sun. In the distance, snow-capped mountains towered.
