Wadena Ice Cream Cone

Wadena Ice Cream Cone by worldslargestthings.
This used to sit in a park in downtown Wadena Minnesota, and was a fond memory. When we went to look for it a few years ago, it wasn't there and everyone thought I was crazy... As I drove out of town (last time), I spotted it again and no one would believe me, so now , here it is - Nyagh!!!

Oh my god! It's still there. My wife and I tried to find it this spring but we had no luck. It looks like it has been fixed up a bit.

Can you be more specific on where it is?

I thought that said Waneda Ice Cream Cone -- as in the first person plural of "Uneeda"

It moved down the road a bit (the slip of paper we picked up says Verndale Minnesota, but it's not IN Verndale...) to a private residence, along US Hwy 71. The people there sell windmills, and are constructing what looks like a little mini park... More pics soon! And, glad to hear someone ELSE who was searching for the 'cone.

Do you have any other info, or earliest memory? I remember it being in Wadena in 1979 or so.

Thank you so much. I just have 1 more clarification question. Do you mean Hwy 10? Verndale is on 10. Hewitt would be the next town on 71.

I don't have much info or any memories of the cone. The most time I've ever spent in Wadena was for a 7th grade basketball tournament. I grew up about and hour and a half from Wadena.

We tried to find it on a trip we made from the Twin Cites to Brainerd and then to my parents' place. It's a big thing, it's in Minnesota, so we tried to find it. It wasn't at the location we thought it would be.

We were going south on 71, and the cone was between Wadena and Hewitt. The 'Verndale' reference comes from the little slip of paper the windmill maker has for an advertisement, so it looks like their mailing address is Verndale, although they're closer to Wadena or Hewitt. Odd.

But, I assure you it's south on 71. When I spotted it, I just had to flip around as fast as possible to snap some pics! Glad the cone is safe in a new, quirky home.

Looks like they also remodeled it a bit since I saw it around 2000:

The concrete cone stood behind a Kentucky Fried Chicken then. I believe it was built in 1973.
