Horsy Pas De Deaux

No harm intended - just classic "stay outta my way, kid" posturing to establish pecking order between "Classy" [American Paint Horse 2001 mare Classical Copys Heart DAM: Becky Will SIRE: Classical Copy] on right and "Peanut" [2004 solid paint-bred cross from paint pony and APHA stallion] on left.

Wow - you do capture the best moments in horse behavior! Another great shot. Do you just stand around with your camera all day waiting for these moments of perfection? :-)

Knew there would be some body language and came prepared. The younger horse, Peanut, looks big in this picture but is actually the product of a pony-mom who was unintentionally bred to a big paint stallion. We kept her mom until Peanut was six months old because her owner didn't have a sheltered place for her and the baby. When her Mom had to go back to her owner, her mothering was taken over by our beautiful donkey, Kristen. Now that she has grown (amazingly) to the size of the smaller-big horses, we wanted her to be exposed to some of the big herd and this was taken the day Peanut and Classy first met (in the same pasture as opposed to across a big fence).
