bande dessinee in Parisian bookstore![]() ![]() Some of the graphic novels or Bande Dessinee on offer in the bookstore Gibert Jeune in the Saint Michel area of Paris near the Seine, close to the Ile de la Cite. Going south from the river past here takes you into the Latin Quarter of the old University and a host of all sorts of bookstores (on top of the second hand book cabinets by the side of the Seine), a great area for booklovers.
My French is very rusty but I treated myself to a couple of albums by European creators I knew of (including a brand new one by Depuy and Berberian who won the Grands Prix at the prestigious Angouleme festival in January) and will see how far I can get with them - I think between rusty French and being able to get some context from the artwork I should be able to get most of it. If only mainstream stores stocked as big a range of graphic novels in English language countries... Commentsbyronv2

Gilbert Jeune, great bookstore! In NL we do have specialty bookshops that sell these particularly. I assume in all languages. That's still of no use to you I guess ;-)
