5 USSR plates. Different material manufactures 1980 series![]() Five former USSR license plates, all from the Russian S.F.S.R. Different features.
#1514 Leningrad official, most common style used heavy steel. #1223 Leningrad city regular passenger car plate, light aluminum. #5755 Vladimir Oblast regular passenger car light aluminum but reflectorized white background, very rare. Vladimir Oblast (Region) contained the principal residence of Ivan The Terrible. #0275 Tver official passenger car porcelainized surface usually found usually only on vehicles owned by government officials, plates with a "0" in the first position on the numbers, also very rare. Tver is a city between Moscow and Leningrad (St. Petersburg). #1884 Leningrad Oblast plate made of vinyl material. Plate with the letters BCM which are both common to Cyrillic and western alphabets were used for vehicles leaving the USSR for abroad. This plate was probably issued after 1989 when foreign travel was much easier. Only vinyl USSR plate I have ever seen.
