Todd Seminary Class Photograph
Taken circa 1914 this is a class photograph from the Todd Seminary in Woodstock Illinois.
Founded by Reverend Richard K Todd in 1848 the school was first known as the Parsonage Institute. In 1861, Todd changed the name to Woodstock University, and in 1864 it became the Woodstock Collegiate Institute. In 1863 there were 149 students enrolled in the school. According to the Todd Magazine, the school was responsible for training many teachers in northern Illinois. In 1867 Woodstock built its first public school, and the Todd school became exclusively a boarding school for boys. In 1873 the school became known as Todd Seminary, and in 1930 Todd School for Boys. Noble Hill joined the school in 1888, and officially took proprietorship of the school in 1892. Source: Todd Magazine, December 1953.
