Title from Killing the Blues by Roly Salley
As performed by Shawn Colvin:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=fAe8-ms-mYs

I left work a little early last Friday while there was still some slanting afternoon sun.

I planned to take ride up to Baldpate Mountain to see what fall had to offer there but I got diverted when coming past Scudders Falls and headed down to the dirt road along the Delaware River shore. With the taller trees largely bare, several patches of still-vibrant maple trees stood out in the bright sunshine and would not let me go.

For the next 20 minutes or so I was a "kid in a candy store"--I had to do a little battle with briers and brambles, and the best shots were to be found lying on the ground, but from there I found myself shooting up through this utterly amazing array of layers of leaves, sunlight and shadow, and the blue blue window of the sky beyond.

There's really only one way I can find to describe it:

Grace.
