The Rev. Dr. Clarence Clifford Norton
Born in Benton, Mississippi in 1896, he graduated from Millsaps College in 1919 and took an MA at Emory University in 1920. He was licensed to preach in Mississippi in 1916 and joined the Texas Conference in 1921 while teaching at Lon Morris College. He transferred to the Upper South Carolina Conference in 1925. He earned his PhD at the University of North Carolina in 1927, and joined the Wofford faculty as professor of sociology in 1925.
