Canterbury Arch or Asperatus Cloud?

An amazing sky taken off the deck of a rental home in Hanmer, NZ.

NASA wrote me and asked if they could use this photo on their Astronomy Picture of the Day. I naturally said YES!!!! Here's the link: apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap130227.html

Maybe it is an Undulatus cloud? See asperatus in wikipedia or

Thanks! And BTW, it's not an HDR

I was reading a good book at the time, so my hubby had to practically drag me to the deck to see this sky (and of course then I had to photograph it, though I really was into the book and just wanted to get back to it!) Now I can't even recall what book it was!

New Zealand's Canterbury or Nor'west Arch is one of the most awesome cloud formations anywhere, and this day/evening was the weirdest one I've encountered.

That is so awesome. I've been waiting for one of those show-stopping formations for a very long time. Good work.
