What Is The Mango Project?

Promotional postcard I designed for a friend's upcoming Fringe Festival show called "What Is The Mango Project?" which starts tonight in Toronto and runs for the next week.

This one definitely deserves a big hat-tip to Frank Chimero and John Martz whose work both played an influence in how this was produced along with the accompanying poster which I also designed.

love love love the textures and colors. Are the textures manufactured or was this printed on a recycled card that gives that natural texture?

Mostly manufactured textures - a combination of scanned paper samples, scanned illustrations done with a sharpie and effects in Illustrator and Photoshop.

One of the things I've really been wanting to explore is the effects of natural (or near-natural) textures. This was a good excuse to do so - and it fit with the overall theme of the show. The poster even more-so than this postcard which re-uses some elements from the poster but remixes them a bit to better work on the smaller size.
