Historic Belgian Farm and outbuildings

This cluster of buildings at Heritage Hill represent a typical Belgian-American homestead. The Charles Massart House and summer kitchen are central to the display. All of the buildings originally had been constructed in Kewaunee County and later moved to Heritage Hill for ongoing preservation and interpretation.

Fort Howard Hospital, 1834-5

Fort Howard was a federal outpost, constructed in 1816, near the convergence of the Upper Fox River and Green Bay. The Hospital was built nearly two decades later outside of the stockade that housed the fort. Following the abandonment of Fort Howard, many of its buildings were moved to other locations in Green Bay. Before being moved to Heritage Hill, the Hospital had been relocated from its original location and reconstructed as two buildings at the corner of Kellogg and Chestnut Streets.

Replicated Fort Howard Schoolhouse

Replicated Fort Howard Schoolhouse

A school had been in place at Fort Howard in 1824 under the supervision of Colonel McNeil. The building was replicated at Heritage Hill as part of a larger exhibit of buildings related to historic Fort Howard.

Moravian Church, 1851

Moravian Church, 1851

Prior to its placement at Heritage Hill, the Moravian Church was a principal center of worship for Protestant settlers in the Green Bay area. The Greek Revival building is the oldest extant church in Green Bay.
