This is the 2nd installment of the felling of the poplar tree. Click
the set 'felling of the poplar tree' on right for the first
installment. See LARGE if you want more detail. This one shows how
completely at home and relaxed the man looked up the tree. The day
before and the day after were both very windy but fortunately on this,
the appointed day it was calm.
There was an interesting sequel to this yesterday. I had found a chrysalis not long before and anxious to discover its id I put it in a carton of soil near where I found it and kept a close eye. It emerged yesterday and showed the beautiful red flash of a red underwing moth just as it flew away when I clicked the camera. And what do their larva feed on? Poplar leaves. I'm afraid this one will have to find another poplar tree for laying its eggs, there are some in a nearby park.
I wish you all well in whatever way is most appropriate for you but cannot take on the extra work of writing it to you individually. Thankyou for your good wishes and to those who have made me their contact. Due to poor health, eye problems and low energy I regret I can't take on any new contacts but nearly always manage to reply to your comments. Please no more than 1 invite.
