We are in temporary residence at my mother-in-laws place for approximately a week following a fire last Thursday a.m. at about 4 when the dishwasher was found in flames after the smoke detector went off. Greg was able to smother the flames with a blanket while Cat and I waited outside and I called 911. Unfortunately there was much smoke damage but the fact that we are all safe and well is the important thing. We are grateful for smoke detectors that work, insurance which covers expenses and arranges for cleaners and carpenters and all those things. We are grateful for all friends and family who offer so many kindnesses.

Thanks Jim. Yes, we are fine and all is well.
It will be quite some time before all the
boxes get unpacked and sniff tests done after
we're back in the house, hopefully next week
sometime. Might take awhile before we can
find carpenter to do the work and painters to
come in because of the housing boom.

How fortunate you are to have gotten out
safely and that the damage wasn't too
extensive. My parents' house burned due to
faulty wiring, and it was too damaged to try
to live there again. But that smoke damage
is pretty intense--good luck to you!
