Southern Pearly-eye: Pee Dee NWR Butterfly Count

Jules Fraytet led a small group on a butterfly count at the Pee Dee NWR. We spent much of the day in the margins of open fields but ended the day at in the shaded wet margins of the low grounds. Jules pointed out this butterfly and noted that the host plant is Arundinaria. I did not expect to get a photograph but a pair of these handsome butterflies circled me as I was photograping some of the native plants
