Wow... scary that some people would do something like this... I thought new generations hated communism... apparently I was very wrong...

LoL, That's for fun, it is like some people put Marilyn's photo as decoration, we use Mao's. And they both worth tens of millions in Andy Warhol's painting :-)

The first commentator obviously didn't get your friend's (the Chinese) sense of humor, unfortunately... I found it hilarious!

Mao's image may not yet have traveled into the realm of humor for some people, even with his commodification by Mr. Warhol. In other places, Communism was something that was defeated, while in China there seems to be more of an organic transition from red books in every hand to a Starbucks on every corner.

But this is a wedding (and evidently a humorous one too!) so Mazeltov! Everybody dance!

Well I guess since everything is written solely in chinese I couldn't get the irony... can anyone translate the sentences so we can all appreciate the fun part of it?

This is quite challenging, but I will give it a shot:

Serve the People Wholeheartedly [ A well known slogan ]

Dear Willow! Under the permission of Chairman Mao, we married each other, and will hold our wedding ceremony at Holiday Inn - Millennium Sunshine, in the great capital -- Beijing. We will prepare a feast for you, and expecting your visit.
Groom: Tian Ye
Bride: Cui Jie

And in the lower part of the picture, Chairman Mao says:
Please make sure you do come!
