One of the rare times I upload a photo to my Flickr photostream that's not taken on a proper camera. Anyway, this place opened late last year about 2 months before the economy crashed. Nice timing, guys.

Took this randomly while I was on a ride yesterday, using the iPhone 3GS. Overall, it's a LOT better then the old iPhone camera, and it's actually usable now. Also, it also shows the GPS location, and, amazingly, the direction it was taken in too, using the 3GS's compass. :O

To take full advantage of Flickr, you should use a JavaScript-enabled browser and
install the latest version of the Macromedia Flash Player.

The iPhone wrote GPS metadata in 2.0 as well. You probably had that turned off.

Nope, it was turned on. But since I only had the 2G iPhone, with no GPS, it was pretty useless. :(

I'd imagine that it could still get a rough idea of your location though? :/

Oh yes, of course.

The 2G could pinpoint your location using:
1) Skyhook Wireless' database (based on WiFi APs - which tends to work better in big busy cities than my town).
2) Cell towers (which can show where you are within, say, 10 miles - again, it's more accurate in a big city).

Yes, I'm aware of that. Skyhook Wireless barely works at all in New Zealand, and cell tower triangulation could generally get you down to the general area.

Yeah. It works in London here but that's about it. :(

Have you tried submitting your own APs to their DB on their site? It makes getting a location quite a lot faster when you're at home. :)
