Roses & Lilies from My Beloved

Roses & Lilies from My Beloved by AGeekMom.
The lilies smell HEAVENLY (and the roses aren't too shabby, either!!)

Justin took me by complete surprise (and had these delivered to my folks' house where he knew I'd be with the kiddo today.) We're not a traditional flower & chocolates couple, and on the rare occasion where I make a quip that "You don't bring me flowers, anymore!" his response (half-joking, half-serious) is always, "OH MAN, see, I was going to *surprise you* but now that you've mentioned it, it won't be a surprise anymore and you'll think I'm only doing it because you said something, so now I have to wait a couple months before I can give you any! (Good line, right? Hehehe)

Thank you, sweetheart! Happy Valentine's Day to my best friend, soulmate and partner of 19 years!!

P.S. The lilies have a heavenly, strong fragrance and they look gorgeous. I lucked out, since they were a substitution for the tulips Justin had originally ordered. I'll take the fragrant lilies over tulips, any day! :-)

So lovely! Just make sure the kittehs don't get the lilies! We have a florist here in Occoquan who takes care of the local ferals, and I don't know how she manages it. I'd never be able to keep it all contained. ;)

Yeah, I learned long ago that keeping the flowers where I can readily smell and enjoy them also puts them within easy reach of the cats. I do believe the first flowers Justin ever got for me (a single red rose, with a sprig of fern or some-such) ended up dumped over my CRT and keyboard at home. The CRT thankfully survived, the keyboard did not.

That said, I am living dangerously right now and have the flowers on my nightstand because the lilies really do smell absolutely heavenly. I wish I knew what kind of lily they are, but their aroma is reminiscent of gardenia.

Thanks for the heads up on the lily toxicity, Regan. Definitely need to pay more attention to that stuff, for the kitties as well as Sara's health.
