Bailer volute (Melo melo)

Bailer volute (Melo melo) by wildsingapore.
This large and handsome snail is very rarely seen except in undisturbed and remote shores. It got its common name because the large shell was often used to bail water out of boats. It is listed among the threatened animals of Singapore.

More about this snail on the wildfacts sheets on wildsingapore.
