i could see sheets of rain on the horizon, but the sky above my head was perfectly blue. using the orton technique it's possible to exaggerate the clouds a bit to give them more drama :) this image was created from 3 shots using photomatix and various layering and masking techniques in photoshop

WOW, what a capture, and what a great HDR. the house acts as a brilliant Size Reference Point to the clouds, the brighter lower right side with the house contrasts perfectly with the dark clouds to give an almost apocolyptic feel.
