The white faux fur stole was a gift. So I thought I'd take a picture of it as a thank-you. :D

And, since I can now do shadows in SL (even though the shadows are kinda pixellated), I thought I'll play with light and shadows. I wanted it to be so that you could only see the shadows and that my skin would blend in with the white background. It would have been awesome to hardly see the body in 2D but it would pop out in 3D. But increasing the contrast makes the shadow disappear too. :( So I'll keep playing with it and it might become a series.

Unfortunately, I get grid lines when I take the photo at a higher resolution than my display. I'm using the Firestorm viewer so it might be a bug.

O Holy Night - a machinima holiday greeting

*** FLICKR HAS A LIMIT OF 90 SECONDS ON VIDEOS ***

Happy holidays! Consider this my holiday greeting "card" and gift, no matter what holiday you celebrate this season.

I had gone from the traditional Christmas paper cards and paper family newsletters, to e-cards and email newsletters, to websites and blogs. This year, it's a machinima holiday greeting.

Although I no longer subscribe to the Catholic faith, which I grew up in, I still love the hymns and Christmas carols. The song was recorded with accompaniment generated by ujam.com, and they make me sound so much better! However, I was using my Logitech headset mic to record, with all the pops, the scratchy voice and the sniffly inhales.

I started filming my avatars for the machinima but that didn't quite go with the music, and I don't have time to do the costumes and animations for an avatar creche. So I found this creche in the Second Life Marketplace and filmed it instead.

Happy holidays to you and yours.

Mer Betta "Eddy" adPlay Video

Mer Betta "Eddy" ad

The Mer Betta™ "Eddy" is an alternative to the water bubble that SL mermaids wear when out of the water.

The NoMod/Copy basepack and the basepack+HUD are now available at the main Mer Betta store in Dunbeath. The HUD allows you to switch to 7 other textures and configurations, including a lava one.

This was intended to be a quick-and-dirty machinima to show how the "Eddy" flows around the avatar, but I figured I might as well turn it into an ad.

When I was searching for a word to describe swirling waters, I found "eddy" and chose that to name the product. Then I pinged Ed Alderman to let him know it was named after him... kinda. ;) As we caught up with news (I hadn't chatted with him for a long while), he mentioned he's doing recordings again, so I asked to hear them. He was reluctant to send me any until he could "clean" them up, but he sent me three samples anyway. And I fell in love with the first one. It's called "Wind in the Willow" which he composed and recorded in 2003. That's the music you hear. I told him he didn't have to re-record it. It was perfect as it was.

So, an ad for the Mer Betta "Eddy" with music by Eddie. ;)

Profile 20111102

I haven't done a profile pic for a long time. (Almost exactly a year ago!) Well, at least not one that's not cross-eyed. ;)

I've tweaked my face in the past year. And this look is more sophisticated, I think, and more "complex." More confident and less sweet. The hair may have a lot to do with it. I'm leaning more towards bangs-less hair these days.

Chaac Amarula and I once had a discussion years ago (2007?), when we talked about how we go through maturity phases in Second Life just like we do in real life. My first significant phase transition was when I was 6 months old. I think I'm going through another phase transition these days. And that transition is reflected on my avatar.

I try to avoid making any changes to my shape when I'm feeling crappy, because my mood is reflected on my avatar. If I do, I usually revert back to a previous version after my mood improves the next day.
