Altercation at the nesting site 4![]() ![]() An Egyptian goose and a South African Shelduck must have hooked-up, and was “nesting” in the reeds at Marievale. Marievale is a Ramsar site, with tremendous birding opportunities, well, sometimes.
Saturday was on of those days. Anyway, some other Egyptians either objected to this strange liaison, or wanted their home, but there was a lot of action, some of which I was lucky to get. It was far, and the postbox crops are to get all the action in. Someday, the action will be in front of my nose, not 50 m out on the water! The Shelduck is a female, the one with the rufus coat and white head. D200 with 200-400 VR Nikkor + 1,4 TC on beanbag in hide. Commentscatbutler
