Great L.A. Walk 2007: Pico Boulevard
|
Last year Mike Schneider of Franklin
Avenue Blog celebrated his 10th year in
L.A. by walking Wilshire Boulevard from
downtown to Ocean Avenue in Santa
Monica. Then he decided to make it an
annual thing and this year selected Pico
from the historic Coca Cola plant at
Central Avenue, all the way to the
beach. Here's some photos I took along
the way.
All told what with parking at 6th &
Spring and walking to Pico & Central
and then having to walk to Wilshire
& 4th (via 7th & Colorado) to
catch the 720 bus back downtown I
covered a total of 19.7 miles
(http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=14578
84).
The walk itself started around 9:30
a.m., and broke for a 90-minute lunch at
our noon arrival at Roscoe's Chicken
& Waffles. A splinter group
(including me) got itchy and were
walking again before 1 p.m. and we
arrived just in time for the sun to set
into the fog at 4:42 p.m. The main group
of walkers led by Mike arrived about an
hour later to much congratulations.
