This is a screenshot from my Tinderbox notes, with the notes help screen up in front of the notes window.

This demonstrates one of the cooler (more confusing?) aspects of Tinderbox (by Eastgate) software. You can create multiple types of relationships that show association in different ways. In the Map view, which is displayed behind and being shown in help, you can have objects that are physically linked in different places. That much is clear from the help. What might be less clear is that just as there is a relationship between something and the objects its linked to, so are there two other kinds of "links" or relationships perhaps show here.

One is proximity. What does being where each object is help communicate. Second the concept of containment means that as there is a relationship in one dimension, there is another kind of relationship in addition to proximity and placement.

It's quite useful. And brilliant.
