I saw him in a hotel a few weeks ago and he looked, well, old before his time.

Its a pity, the man is a genius storyteller and lyricist.

If I recall correctly their show began about an hour late, I guess he was getting as sober as possible.

Nevertheless, I love his songs.

Yes he is a genius songwriter. I guess you know "A fairytale of New York"? That was recently named as one of the best Irish songs.
