humorous...then very sad
to quote bob dylan...if God is on our side
maybe he'll stop the next war....(with god on
our side)

If it wasn't so damn true...
it would be funny...
this image also speaks to the fears
of Muslims in the area that this war
apart from being about oil...
is also a holy one...
raising George W's religious flag over
the latest Iwo Jima.

I don't often quote this person...
as I don't know that many (any)...
but when I was researching
the crucifixion and
read these words...
they did seem to fit
(once again)

SW4... thank you for your support!
[CK]... some things ring true more than
once...
abogadacanada... the parts...
the soldiers in the image base
are taken from a famous photo of
US marines raising the american
flag over a re-claimed island in
the Philippeans called Iwo Jima
(after an incredibly brutal battle
with the Japanese in W2)...
According to the Bible...
the crucifixion of Christ is a
religious moment where the son of
God looked to the heavens and
asked his father to forgive
mankind for being so ignorant
of what they were doing...
to him and to each other...
the burning fires in the
background just place this image
in today's context...
another ignorant moment
in mankind's search for glory.
Phewww...
hope that clears things up.

I think it's because we know fiction can be
changed...
where most truths we just have to accept
and live with.

Yeah, no need to take fiction seriously. But
reality, even when it consists of politicians
out of contact with reality, has to be taken
serious at some level.

a resonant chord with many...

In the best way possible..by ensuring it
doesn't happen again.
Particularly not disasters like the
Gallipoli snafu, which sits at the base of
the ANZAC tradition.

about god?... or what about freedom?... or
what about tyranny?... give me a break... we
can talk about anything... cause it's just
talk... empty self-gratifying talk... and why
do we do it?... because people LOVE to
talk... about everything... even the things
we know nothing about...

What does Christ have to do with getting rid
of a dictator and fighting terrorism?
Consider if the war is actually the will of
God. You don't know his thoughts. You don't
know Bush's intentions. Are we taking oil as
was the argument at the begining. NO!!!
Ever consider we may be HELPING these people?
Stupid fucking hateful liberals only see the
glass half empty at all times.

Thank god there are people who think like
you...
where else could they find support for such
a stupid war...
I support the troops because they believe
they are doing right...
but I think they have been sold a bill of
goods... WMD my ass!!!!
where are they?... never found!!!... and
dictators!... give me a break!...
there are dictators everywhere!... many
hiding under the cloak of democracy!
I feel confident that Christ is ashamed of
those who speak his name
in the cause of war!... he died for nothing
if you don't see it!
sorry... you got me going... my rant for
the day! Happy Easter!

This image is even more powerful in light of
scripture....
Luke 3:14 - "And the soldiers likewise
demanded of him, saying, And what shall we
do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no
man, neither accuse any falsely; and be
content with your wages."
It's interesting to note that our
government was designed after the Roman
government. Rome was also a melting pot of
culture and philosophy. Roman soldiers
might've been given the same reasons to go to
war as our own soldiers. Yet, Jesus told
them to do violence to no man. The only
violence accepted by God was in wars which
protected the lineage of the Messiah in the
Old Testament... protection both spiritual
and physical. When Jesus arrived he made it
clear that His commandment not to kill was
still valid.
So, when I see this image it reminds me
that Christianity is the original pacifism.
The early Christians, though thousands and
thousands came to the lord even in the first
conversions recorded in Acts, never fought
for religious freedom but were led to their
slaughter like lambs. (In the image of the
lamb). "For we wrestle not with flesh
and blood..."
It also reminds me that Jesus would forgive
any soldier of their sins and that only the
blood of Christ can cover them.
