Discover the Culture of the Kuna Indians. There is so much to say
about the Kuna Indians that it is hard to know where to start. The
only Independent and Autonomous Indigenous tribe in Panama (some say
in America), their victory was hard earned. Today, they are masters of
their own land and fight to preserve their culture in a rapidly
evolving world. Their molas are the best example of patience and
dedication-each mola takes several days (sometimes weeks) to create.
The designs are designed and hand-made by the Kuna women. If you have
a chance to see a Kuna sewing a mola, pay special attention to the
process, it is what sets it apart from simpler “patchwork”.

Hay tanto por decir de los indígenas Kunas que es difícil saber por
dónde empezar. Los únicos indígenas que lograron alcanzar su autonomía
e independencia en Panamá (muchos dicen en todo América), su victoria
fue alcanzada con penas. Hoy, son maestros de su tierra y luchan para
preservar su cultura en un mundo siempre cambiante. Sus molas son el
mejor ejemplo de su paciencia y dedicación: cada mola es hecha a mano
por una Kuna y demora varios días/semanas en crearse. Si tienen la
oportunidad de ver a una Kuna cociendo una mola, presten atención al
proceso, es lo que hace la diferencia entre una mola y un simple
patchwork.
