Great photo; a testimony to the naturalness and nobility of the first lady.
She can learn us all to live with all our senses, to live in the here and now...

Cheers from Belgium

I used to work in vegetable gardens as apart of school curriculum during my grade 8-9 and the experience was amazing. US education systems should consider this as part of the children learning program.
Working in the garden help teach children to work within a group, see results of their hard work, be responsible and most of all be part of a team and the end results learning to eat better.
It beats computer games anyday

Fabulous photo Samantha Appleton!! To have a garden at the White house, and most important, to have children helping in all aspects of the tending to it says so much about our Beautiful 1st Lady. She is adding so much to the social & cultural growth of America...YAY!!

I like that there's dirt on her left knee, and her right knee is on the ground. She's more concerned about dealing with the child and the garden than with being prissy.

Being from a poor, rural, farming state, this impresses me. :-)

Mrs. Obama obviously could care less about getting her knees smudged with dirt or getting mud on her clothes. The kids and this project are more important to her than personal style!
