Africa's Web 2.0 Sites (updated) by whiteafrican.
[NEW VERSION found here]

There was a few errors in my earlier version, so this has been cleaned up. I'm sure I'll end up adding ones that I've missed later too.

Okay, I use the term "web 2.0", but chose a rather broad definition of that term. You'll see some mobile companies in there as well, since I believe the line is rather blurred in Africa.

If I missed something (which I'm sure I did), let me know in a comment or email and I'll add it to the 2nd iteration.

You consistently provide information we can use. And that has lasting value. Thank you very much.

Excellent - well done Hash. I just did a presentation on Monday where I had a similar screen for global web2.0 sites and I was thinking I really need a localised one but it just seemed like too much work.

I noticed this image is copyright. Does this mean we can't use it in presentations etc?

Hash, it is a lot more easier on Flickr with the links but I think this will be a nice one to do for the Cheetah Index resource to drive people to all these sites. Once again, hats off...

But we always knew that.

Marshall - This was created by Hash and originally posted on his blog - I just picked it up though he did give me credit for suggesting the idea - i fear Hash is very generous :)

as a web developper myself i am confident the technology will work very well on mobile devices. it is a shame the motherland is not fully covered yet. we could reach so many people.

ZimSeller.com is a website which sells delicious Zimbabwe food, fuel, and various household goods. They deliver orders in Harare and Chitungwiza for only £5. They also have an auction page (www.auction.zimseller.com) where other people can sell their own products.

Zimseller (www.zimseller.com) seem to have redefined the art of selling Zimbabwe groceries online. Compared to other online grocery shops serving Zimbabweans in the diaspora, Zimseller.com has by far the largest selection of products-from green vegetables to solar panels. The layout of the shop front is simple and intuitive, best for customer who want to buy individual products rather than pre-packed hampers.
