less than 400 nine years ago. Great capture. Cape Arid or Fitzgerald River? I've seen lots of photos of the nominate (the putative tasman race leachi subsumed by some in the nominate but may be a good race). For me, this is a very pretty parrot. Too bad it is so rare, and so elusive.

Current estimate is 250 birds. I was working both Cape Arid and Fitzgerald River NP's. No birds were captures at the time this it the first photo of a wild bird. It was within 20m of its nesting site this is a female and shows evidence of a brood patch. The young bird was recorded calling but never seen. No WGP nest has been seen since 1913. I also have a photo of a fledgling taken the year before but its a bit hazzy.
