510 N. Wayne St., Piqua, Ohio.

Uriah Sawyer House, 1849.

This attractive two story, brick house started life as a Greek Revival Style building with exterior wall pilasters. Original features include the roof cornice with its oblong windows and brackets, and the Ionic form capitals for the pilasters. The two story window bay on the south facade and the one story front porch are later features and now add to the importance of this house.

It is probable that Uriah Sawyer was associated with the Sawyer and Co., an early grocery business.

The facade of this Greek Revival Style brick house is what most of Piqua's Greek Revival houses looked like before they were remodeled.

519 N. Wayne St., Piqua, Ohio.

Johnston-Pursell House, c. 1876.

This pleasant example of Italianate Style architecture probably had an iron-crested roof at one time. Notice the slender Ionic columns and carved decoration on this grand front porch.

William M. Pursell was a member fo the firm of John O'Ferrall & Co., proprietors of the Piqua Car and Agricultural Works. Mr. Pursell remodeled an earlier brick house erected by George Johnston.
