In September 2007, the live performances that form the heart and soul of WGBH 89.7's classical and jazz radio programs began in the Fraser Performance Studio. Here are a few shots of this wonderful new space and some interesting facts and figures about the studio itself.

• WGBH produces some 300 live-to-air radio performances every year, many with a studio audience. These performances showcase local Boston-area talent, national and international artists, and emerging musicians.

• With 1,800 square feet, Fraser can accommodate larger ensembles and larger audiences than WGBH 89.7 ever could in the past.

• The complex wooden baffles on the walls are designed to produce broadcast-quality acoustics.

• The space is named for Richard and Helen Fraser, who graciously dedicated this performance studio in recognition of their love of the performing arts, and especially to continue making classical music available to everyone.

• The WGBH Hamburg Steinway Model D piano is a gift from A. Neil and Jane Pappalardo.
