Roman taphonomy skull - detail of cut

Roman taphonomy skull - detail of cut

The human skull recovered from the late Romano-British corn drier or malting oven.

This teenage female has had a hole cut in her skull. Due to the worn state of the bone cut it is difficult to tell how long she survived after her operation but it appears the the healing is only slight.
