From my collection of Harry Green's Pictures.
This is the old lower lighthouse at Portland Bill. Built in 1869 at the same time as the higher light, it is now used as a bird observatory.
The lighthouse in the background was built early in the 20th century and has been un-manned since 1996, when control of the light was transferred to the Trinity House operations centre at Harwich. The little spike thing that is between the two lights is an old Trinity House navigation obelisk erected in 1844 to mark a low lying shelf of rock.
