Brandenburg Gate in Berlin

There some landmarks that you can not over see, when you are in a town. For Berlin this is the Brandenburg Gate. Especially when you have experienced as a german what it mean to stand in front of a wall. Since now, when I see the Brandenburg Gate, I'm happy that I can walk through. Thank God.

Times sure have changed. My Mother was born and lived in Germany until just after the war. Pictures such as this always stir my interest. Nice picture.

Wonderful photo!!Looks like it must be quite the tourist attraction, in comparison with the bleakness of 25 years ago its an amazing contrast!!

I longed for this nasty Soviet wall to come down, so my family could reunify. My grandfather was a twin and never saw his brother again after leaving Latvia during the war. I had hoped it would come down in time for him to return to Latvia, but freedom came to Latvia too late. Odd thing is, they still looked exactly alike, and died within a couple of months of each other...
