The first 'real' photo call with my new camera and the first since the chemo regime was formally over, I imagine I'll be able to get much more out of the D700 than this in a week or so. Janet and Roman are salsa dancers and the venue is Floridita on Wardour Street.
It's great to be at less risk health-wise and wonderful to be able to go out without worrying about complications from infections resulting in my death. I have a stinking cold - with an immune system that will take years to fully recover that's inevitable - but am otherwise improving all the time and am hoping that I'll be well enough to start working properly on the recovery of my fitness from Monday.
Meanwhile, donations to Cyclists Fighting Cancer have reached 70% of target. We're so near now... please help and donate

this marks the official end of my chemo regime and the beginning of the recovery. The dancers are jumping to celebrate Brazil's 50th birthday next year.

ten to ten
Two and a bit days to the official end of the regime. In two and a bit days I will be able to go where I want without worrying about kicking the bucket as a result of complications resulting from infections.
The symptoms will take a while to disappear and it'll be at least 18 months before my immune sytem is totally recovered but the spectre of neutrophil sepsis will be relegated to the shadows of small possibilities.
It feels like nearly the 11th hour for other reasons. Next week is the World Travel Market, Dance Today goes to press on Wednesday week, I have several travel features to write (and another which should have been delivered on Friday is waiting on a response from an interviewee) about 20 photos to deliver by Monday morning and need to get fit enough for my first adventure travel assignment in 4 weeks time.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. I can't! Career-wise everything has gone far better than I dared to hope. But to cap it all I'm fighting even more fatigue than chemo-normal. I think that's because after 6 months of punishment my body's finally able to heal itself again.
It's going to be fun...

taken some years ago, this was at the beginning of a cycle trek through the Spanish sierra at the time of the longest drought in living memory - that fat on my legs had gone within days!
