This Heron was fishing in the Gulf of Mexico on Christmas Eve on Lido Beach. He couldn't have cared less about my proximity - probably about 10 ft for this shot. Obviously he was quite used to bright white camera toting tourists.

The Lowry Park Zoo had a small indoor exhibit of frogs, most of whom were frankly uninteresting. This tank appeared at first - and second - glance to be filled with an assortment of colorful plastic toy frogs of the variety you get in the overpriced souvenier shop, possibly attached to pencils or embedded in soap. I was moderately disgusted at the zoo's transparent attempt to add "atmosphere" to a boring exhibit and actually walked away from the tank, only to turn back again when I thought I finally saw one move. I did. Turns out those little toy models are pretty danged realistic - right down to the part where they sit almost stationary for long periods of time!
