Sailing Well

The day after we left Fort Lauderdale.

From the Ins. Report...

On Friday, April 13, 2007 at approximately 11 am we left Ft. Lauderdale on a transit to bring Overlap up to Annapolis, Maryland. We sailed Friday in 10 – 15 knots of breeze out of the east with a full main and #2 headsail. We were making good time up the coast and had arrived at our 24 hour planned position 3 hours ahead of schedule. Before sunset Friday we reefed the main. Saturday mid day the wind was building, and we were about 35 miles off the coast. We put 5 gallons of diesel in the fuel tank. We reduced sail by lowering the #2 genoa and raising the #3 genoa. We contacted shore and verified that a low pressure system was working towards Cape Hatteras, and it was expected to move north at a quick clip once reaching the coast.
