Frost, looking out

Frost, looking out by weaving major & tractor dan.
early-morning view of frost on our windowpane. It was still mostly dark outside, but I steadied the camera by resting the lens filter against the inner windowpane as a 'tripod' to focus on the frost on the outer pane.

thanks everybody!

all you need is subzero weather and thermopanes with broken seals to let a little moisture in between the windows ;o) It's our northern consolation for no flowers until April.

Oh wow, that is the best frost picture I have ever seen. I actually was trying to figure out, before the whole page loaded, whether it was somehow carefully positioned feathers (which didn't seem your style) ...
it's beautiful!

The hoarfrost in window is disappearing natural phenomenon. The new windows are unfortunately too tight. The blue shade of morning (as well as in the evening) is called "blue moment". Another moment - a little bit earlier before the sun goes down - is called "green flash" or sometimes at higher latitudes "green moment", when the colour of the sky is greenish. Your blue moment is technically and artificially fine shot! (Btw, I never seen hoarfrost shots during "green flash". :-))

wow, thanks for stopping by and commenting, everyone!

Kim - carefully positioned feathers, LOL, I wouldn't do that but you (and Today Is A Good Day) are right, it sure does look like feathers!

Tapio - I have often waited to see a green flash in the sky just after sunset, but I haven't seen one. There are a lot of trees near our house and we don't get to see the sunset at home. I have never heard of a "green moment" but I know the greenish cast of the sky sometimes in the evening. I think since hoarfrost forms at night it would have to be a morning 'green moment'... and I don't think I've seen very many green moments in the morning.

Alohalady - thanks for the invite; and thanks Gúnna, Garry, withrow, Bay, bipolarizado, YinYang, photofiend, wana2b, alohalady and jayasolo for your comments!

Antmaris - I'm already a member of 'blue hue' and not sure I need another 'blue' group, but thanks for the invite!

Bay - yes, it was below zero (-10 F) outside when I took this. Please enjoy some warm sunshine for me too! :o)

I really appreciate how you have a very good eye to find and capture beauty in such small things that, I guess, most people doesn't even notice in their everyday. Keep up with the good work! ;-)

Amazing! Please add this frosty shot to the heat waves.frost bites pool: www.flickr.com/groups/heatandfrost/

We alternate extreme hot and cold shots, so please add it after a hot one (yours or someone else's).
