pinocchio

we don't celebrate halloween much in new zealand, and i'm not overly fond of the scary costumes and commercialism of it.. but aesops 'work' (read: preschool) decided to have a fairy tale dress up day instead. aesop stated weeks ahead of time he wanted to be pinoccchio and we whipped up this little costume.
i dropped him off this morning and pretty much all of the girls were either a disney princess or a fairy and the boys had super hero costumes on. how are those fairy tales? anywho.. i'm hoping aesop didn't feel like the odd one out too much, i think he looked very darling.

cuteee. i can relate, i have a similar story. i remember we had mother goose story dress up day for kgarden and i was the old woman in the shoe. i was the odd out because all the girls were something pretty and frilly like miss muffet or bopeep. i think if that would have happened a couple years later i would have been upset but when you are 5 and fresh to the public school system your spirit hasn't been broken quite yet.

I LOVE his costume! His nose is the best! I wouldn't worry about him feeling like the odd one out. Wes is usually something no one knows, even when they ask they still have no clue! He wanted to be a gonk droid (from Star Wars) this year, but we didn't have time. And I told him, "Won't it be nice to have people know what you are this year?" They better, it's written on his costume six times!

heh, aesop would also loooove a gonk droid costume. he decided when he was three that star wars was the best thing EVER. apparently next year we're having a starwars party for his birthday.. luckily he wants to be darth vader so it shouldn't be too difficult, not sure how i'm going to make my jabba the hutt costume though! apparently that's what character i would be ?!

Wesley had a Star Wars birthday party last year! We had two cakes, one for the light side (which was vanilla) and one for the dark side (chocolate) and a Darth Vadar pinata that the kids hit with light sabers. :) It was fun!

Ha, Jabba the Hutt! How fun! Good luck with that costume though!

Cor, he looks superb, well done! My daughter, since going to nursery has become all 'pink princessy' and I can't stand it so I feel your pain ; ) That said, she happily dressed as a pumpkin for the whole of halloween, even walking through town, supermarket, etc. Didn't realise the stir it would cause!
