A little bit of the old Jersey City lives on at the end of the Morris Canal even as the rest of the world changes around it. Where vintage tugboats and red cranes go to die. Feb 2012

Now and Then view: The viaduct for westbound traffic from the Holland Tunnel as it looks now with dumbed-down signs, and the Emerson Radio factory an abandoned relic. The art deco signpost is still the same, although the I-beam is now rusty. Jersey City

Colgate Clock on top of the Colgate plant in Jersey City. At night it would glow with hundreds of light bulbs. A giant toothpaste tube stood to its right with a striped cap. This shows the very beginning of the factory's demolition in 1988.

Long retired, the Colgate Clock in Jersey City sits in a weedy field by the Morris Canal. Life goes on in Lower Manhattan on a dreary winter day as the World Trade Center grows taller. Feb 2012.

End of civilization as we know it. Forty years after the worldwide plague finally subsided, only the most primitive, hardiest weeds and bushes were capable of survival.

Now and Then view... Hoboken Avenue in Jersey City towards Bergen Hill. Still looks weedy and desolate, but it's had a very long history of that. Below is a link to how it looked in 1951.
